U-20 Move to Camp with 20 Players

The darling U20 team of the Gambia has moved to camped yesterday evening at the paradise suite hotel ahead of their final encounter against Ghana in Banjul for the return leg in the CAF youth championship second round qualifiers for Rwanda 2009.

The team yesterday evening moved to camp with 20 players after they just concluded their training session at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Speaking to Point Sports in a telephone interview yesterday, Lamin Sarr who took charge as head coach after the resignation of the Italian coach Lorenzo Rubinacci, express optimism for the upcoming game and said that his side is well prepared for the game. "We are well prepared for the game on Sunday. We are in camped at the paradise hotel with 20 players and will be expecting the professional players very soon. The professional players invited are Sainey Nyiassi Abdourahman Dampha, Pa Modou Jagne, Ken Abdoulie Mansally and Sainey Sidibeh", he said. He said that the "team has a great chance of making it to the finals and with the support of the public and the private sector we will qualify by the help of God", he explained.

It could be recalled that the Gambia U20 team lost to the Black Stars of Ghana in Accra by 2-1 in the first leg.

The Gambia needs to beat Ghana by 1-0 in Banjul to see their dream of reaching the CAF youth championship for the second time in the U20 youth tournament competition.

The game is slated for the 12thof October 2008 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, on Sunday.
