Mr. Sutay Jawo a Staff of the Department of State for youth and Sports has been recently appointed Deputy director of youth for the department.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Jawo was the youth coordinator of the department.
Speaking to Point-sports yesterday about his new portfolio, Mr Jawo said among his priorities for the department would be to transform the department to a modern one that would be responsive to the present needs and aspiration of the youth of this country. He added that he will also work closely with the department of state for Agriculture and Health to help addressed the inadequacy of food self-sufficiency and improve the nutritional values of the Gambian youths for the development of the nation. "I will closely work with the National Youth Council to regularize the way in which the young people are oriented as responsible Citizen", he said.
"We will also work closely with NYSS and President International Award Scheme to improve the skills of the Gambian youths for genuine self employment ventures so as to acquire other skills", he added.
