Alleged sheep thief in court

One Buba Saidy was recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' Court charged with stealing, a charge he denied.

According to the particulars of offence, on or about 12th September 2008 at LaminVillage, the accused stole a sheep valued at D1500, being the property of one Ali Mbye of LaminVillage.

Following a plea of not guilty, the police prosecutor applied for an adjournment to enable him to bring his witnesses to the court.

Meanwhile, the accused was granted court bail in the sum of D3000 with a Gambian surety.

Hearing continues.

In a separate but related development an under age suspect was also recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' Court on a charge of stealing. He denied the charge.

According to the alleged offence, on 25th September 2008, at Farato village the accused stole a wallet containing cash of D800, a radio valued at D125, a national ID Card amongst other properties all being the property of one Samba Kebbeh. Meanwhile he was ordered by the court to bring his birth certificate on the next adjourned date.
