Police Question Daily Observer Production Manager

Police at the Bakau Police Station have questioned the Daily Observer's production manager over the sale of an official car allocated to him, this paper has leant through reliable sources.

Mr. Baba Drammeh was on Wednesday 27thAugust called for questioning over allegations that he had sold the car, Mercedes Benz 190, registration number KM 8687A that had been officially allocated to him.

He is said to have sold the car at D24, 000 to one Morr Touray of Latri Kunda German in June this year, who has since turned the car into a taxi.

Sources said the car was intercepted on Wednesday while in the traffic around West Field.

Another source revealed that Baba Drammeh is claiming to have the blessing of the Daily Observer newspaper management for him to buy the said car from the Observer Company.

When contacted an official at the Daily Observer who preferred not to be named said there had been a meeting at the Observer on the 6thof August 2008 and the issue of the said vehicle came up there. The official affirmed it was agreed on that day that any person interested in the said vehicle should make a formal application to the management. According to the official, Mr. Drammeh then submitted an application to that effect on the 12thAugust 2008 showing interest in the car. On the whole, the official said, Mr. Drammeh had already sold away the car since in June 2008 without the knowledge of the management.

He revealed that not until last Wednesday when the car was seen in the traffic when the driver informed them that he bought the car from Mr. Drammeh since in June.

He maintained that this is true, as all the documents of the car were changed to his name.
