Juvenile Testifies in Alleged Theft Case

africa » gambia
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

A 12-year-old boy on Monday told the Brikama Magistrates' Court that he was an eye-witness to a theft involving over D5000.

Lamin Saidy explained that he was sometime this year behind the bathroom of the complainant when he heard a strange noise in the complainant's house and was forced to enquire.

"Upon entering the bathroom, I saw the accused breaking a box containing D5,700. He appealed to me not to reveal what I saw to anybody. But I revealed the matter to the complainant when I heard her complaining about money. It was afterwards that the accused was arrested," he posited.

The case was at that moment adjourned for more testimonies.

It would be recalled that Jarra Suwareh has filed a lawsuit against one Yankuba Dibba for allegedly stealing her D5700.
