The two hour session, which attracted the Senior Management Team (SMT) of the Personnel Management Office (PMO), was convened at the PMO conference room at Quadrangle in Banjul on Friday April 5, 2024.
According to him, the Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) was designed to assist the users in managing their Recorded Information concerning the record-keeping practices from inception to disposition of Records documents.
“We are in the digital world and we need to make the best use of the System rather than seeing it go astray. The system can also do what PMO wants,” Mr. Gillen said.
Mr. Gillen reminded that file sharing is key in Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) work, adding that the system can manage all Personnel Files (P-Files).
Speaking shortly before the start of the session, Lamin Jawara, Permanent Secretary at PMO, said it is important for both NRS and PMO Senior Management Teams to come together periodically to discuss the way forward on the usage of the system.
PS Jawara urged officials, especially those using the ERMS the need to familiarise themselves with the system so as to deliver quality service to the public with determination and courage.
Director, National Records Services (NRS), Mr. Bartholomew Marong, acknowledged that using the system is all about making the work of the users easy and he was quick to inform PMO Senior Management Team (SMT) members that all the functional requirements of the ERMS were met.
“Records management is not records clerks business alone, but it is everyone’s business. Let everyone be committed to the use of the System because it will make our work easy instead of doing our work manually,” Mr. Marong advised.
