My Last Election to Contest as NAM - Halifa Sallah
Monday 8th January 2007

Honourable Halifa Sallah, the Minority Leader of the National Assembly, has stated that he would not seek re-election after the January 25th National Assembly election.

Hon. Sallah was speaking to GRTS’ Weekend Upbeat anchored by Malick Jones on Saturday.

According to Hon. Sallah, who is seeking another mandate after serving for the just ended term, whether he wins or not, this will be the last time he would seek re-election as a National Assembly Member.

“If the people of Serrekunda Central decide not to elect me again, I would go into more academic work to work on my PhD,” Halifa said, adding that it is the people who should decide for themselves.

Hon. Sallah’s statement came as a response to Malick Jones’ question as to whether he would accept to be nominated as NAM should the APRC sweep the whole 48 constituencies.

Meanwhile, Halifa was on Friday nominated at the I.E.C. regional office in the KMC area.
