Peace Corps Volunteer’s Alleged Rapist’s Case
Friday 10th November 2006

By Abdoulie Nyockeh

Judgement could not be on Monday delivered in the case of one Abdoulie Badjie after he changed his plea from ‘guilty’ to ‘not guilty’ to a charge of raping a Peace Corps volunteer.

Abdoulie was last Monday brought before magistrate Edrisa Mbai at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a Peace Corps volunteer in the bushes between Sintet and Campasa villages in Foni but his fate could not be determined when he changed his plea from ‘guilty’ to ‘not guilty’ at the Monday sitting.
He was however refused court bail and returned to the State Central prison in Banjul.

The case resumes November 16.
