The 3rdedition of the Kartong Cultural Festival concluded recently. The festival brings together people from Kartong, the rest of The Gambia, the sub-region and a host of visitors from overseas.

Speaking to The Point the Councillor for Kartong Ward, Lamin Jambang Jabang, said the festival means a lot to the village and the nation. He said it promotes partnership and understanding in the village.

He pointed out that the festival also promotes understanding between The Gambia and Senegal especially the Cassamance region, which have been separated because of colonial boundaries.

"I am aware of the efforts made by Viki back in Nottingham in the UK particularly the amount of money she raised to help make the festival possible. Thank you to all the sponsors who made this event possible," he said.

For his part, Ousman Kebbeh, a representative of The Gambia Tourism Authority thanked the organising committee of the Kartong Cultural Festival for organising the event.
