East on Sunday began their encounter in Group D with a win after beaten the
city boys – Banjul 1-0 during regulation time in the country’s most fancied
tournament, the Super ‘Nawettan’
Omar Johm scored the game’s only goal for Serrekunda East with the first 9 minutes of play, leaving the traveled Banjul fans disappointed.
Serrekunda East head coach, Yunusa Badjie, expressed delight for winning yet again, noting that Banjul has never been a problem for them while anticipating to win the tournament.
Abodu Njie, the gaffer of Banjul expressed disappointment after losing their opening game, adding that this time they came with anticipation to beat Serrekunda East.
The East boys’ next game will be on Thursday against Sanyang at Brikama Box-Ba minis-stadium, while Banjul will welcome Serrekunda West at home at the KG5 Mini-stadium on the same day.
Meanwhile, in the other games played on Sunday, Gunjur drew goalless with Brufut in a game played at the Serrekunda West mini-stadium; Brikama defeated Lamin 2-0 at the Box-Ba mini-stadium, while Serrekunda West also beat the debutant team Sanyang 1-0.
