Volunteers for the Environment (YVE) - The Gambia on Saturday held its annual
general meeting at the Gambia College in Brikama.
The theme for the gathering was “Helping everyone discover, enjoy and achieve sustainable development”.
The gathering provided a platform for members and partners to discuss the progress and challenges of the organisation.
The event was enlivened by drama performance on cutting down of trees and bushfire by students of Kabafita Upper Basic School.
Speaking on the occasion, Kebba Barrow of Action Aid The Gambia who is also a board member of YVE said the organisation is dedicated to sensitising members and other youth about the environment and issues that are degrading to it.
He said the organisation has been working with almost all the government agencies and NGOs.
Isatou Ndow, head of the School of Public Health and also board chairperson of YVE, said major achievements have been registered by the organisation during the previous years.
Ms Ndow said YVE has been involved in many development issues relating to the environment.
