A Gunjur youth Alhagie Barrow has said planting
palm trees along the coastal line of the country will create revenue and
employment opportunity for many youths.
Barrow was speaking to Youth Forum on Friday at the Gunjur Upper and Senior Secondary School field.
He challenged government through the ministry of agriculture to start planting palm trees along the coastal line to create employment opportunity for youth and income for the country.
He stated that ministry of agricultural should try by all means to start planting palm trees along the coast, adding that it would create employment opportunity for many youths.
He further revealed that palm trees can be process to provide palm oil, soap and other products and their presence along the coast line will beautify the area and attract tourists.
He further stated that the ministry of agriculture should also encourage youth to engage in agriculture, saying that everybody cannot fit in offices.
He pointed out that government through ministry of agriculture should start putting proper mechanism in place to plant more palm trees to protect the country’s coastal line.
He also tasked ministry of agriculture and its partners to invest heavily in planting palm trees on the coastal line to create employment for youths.
‘‘I think government, through ministry of agriculture should be serious in planting palm trees and coco nuts along the coast line to generate revenue and create job opportunity for youths’’, he said.
Barrow believed that planting trees will protect the country’s coastal line and generate revenue for government.
