Youth Forum: Young Gambian excels in Hospitality, tourism industry in Maldives

Young Gambia James Badjie is excelling in hospitality and tourism industry of the Maldives.

He was born in 1992 in Berending, Kombo South and moved to the South Asian country in 2015 after securing job with Niyama Private Islands, a resort that is famous among rich and well-known.

“I was recommended by a previous superior I work at Sheraton Hotel Gambia who gave my CV to the bosses and that is how I got the job in South Asian country.

He stated ‘’I am now a restaurant superior and the resort recently paid for me  to do the wine and Spirit education trust (WSET )level two and very  soon, I will be promoted a wine and Sommelier.

“My resort is popular among celebrities I met a lot of them including footballers Luiz Suarez and Fernando Torres,’’ Badjie said.

Badjie, who graduated from Saint Augustine Senior Secondary School in 2009, secured certificate and diplomat in travel and tourism at Lamin Institute of professional studies after struggling to enrolled at the University of The Gambia due to financial problem.

‘’I later went to the hotel school where I studied food and beverage and was among the best students in that department’’, he said.

Badjie revealed that he will continue to work hard to improve his job status to create more opportunities in the South Asian country.

He stated is very happy to excel in hospitality and tourism industry in the Maldives, noting that is hoping to extra efforts explore in the South Asian country.

He said Republic of the Maldives is a sovereign archipelagic nation positioned in the Indian Ocean, adding that the South Asian nation has no counterpart in the entire world in term of its unique geography and topography.

 He stated Maldives comprise twenty-six natural atolls consisting of dual Islands chains.

Accidentally the Maldives language has the distinct pleasure of contributing to the English words atolls’’, he pointed out.
