a youth association focusing on youth campaigning through mobilization and
engagement has recently launched a new project that targets youth engagement at
both national and international levels. The launch was done at ActionAid The
Gambia office on MDI Road in Kanifing.
This mandate compelled the youth-led organisation to seek funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) to aid in enhancing democratisation processes through youth leadership and participation in The Gambia.
In launching the project, regional representatives across the country, stakeholders and government officials were invited to take ownership in enhancing the democratisation process through youth leadership and participation.
The inception workshop lasted for three days, where participants got the opportunity of not just being introduced to the concept of the NED project, but also got to engage in healthy discussions on its implementation.
The launching ceremony was attended by the Executive Director of ActionAid International the Gambia - Omar Badjie, Activista Board Vice Chairperson - Dawda Samba and Activista National Coordinator- Alhagie Nyang.
Activista-Gambia is an association formed to support and empower youths in the country and to also create opportunities for them in life.
In similar development, Globe International Youth Day (IYD), in collaboration with other stakeholders in youths commemorated International Youth Day with the theme: ‘Peace and Reconciliation through Youth’.
The first phase of the IYD is the opening ceremony of the Inter-generational dialogue. Stakeholders, government officials and young people were brought together and introduced to the theme and the day.
