Yaya Ndong’s strike salvages win for Gamtel in GFF 1st Domestic league

Prolific striker Yaya Ndong’s last gasped winner has inspired Gamtel to a 1-nil win over the defending league champions Gambia Armed Forces in the week-three fixture of the 2017-2018 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday.

The telecommunication giants and the soldiers both came into the game with 4 points each in two league fixture before their week-three meeting.

Gamtel dominated the game and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but failed to utilize their limited goal scoring opportunities thus the first half ended goalless.

Upon resumption of the game, Gamtel continued where they left in the first half and mounted pressure on Gambia Armed Forces.

Their efforts paid dividend in the 87th minute of the game when Striker Yaya Ndong netted the only goal after the long deadlock to secure their second win in the new league season.

Gamtel, after three league matches, are now level on 7points apiece with Banjul United who drew 1-1 with Brikama United at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Debutants Fortune FC defeated struggling Bombada 1-0 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Elsewhere, Gambia Ports Authority drew goalless with Hawks at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Banjul United and Gamtel have bagged 7 points each in three league matches while Gambia Armed Forces and Fortune FC both have with 4 points each in three league matches.

 Gambia Ports Authority have 3 points, Hawks 2 points in three league matches and Bombada with zero point, after losing their three opening fixtures.
