Yankuba Jarjue’s dual inspires Real De Banjul to open gap in GFF 1st domestic league

Striker Yankuba Jarjue’s doubled strike in the first half has sent Real De Banjul four points clear in the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league standings.

The City boys beat Hawks 2-1 in the all-Banjul derby clash played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on Sunday.

Real De Banjul came into the derby as league leaders after winning their five opening league games; Hawks were third before their derby clash with Real De Banjul.

Real De Banjul snatched the vital three points after striker Yankuba Jarjue alias Torres notched in twice in the first half to move four points clear in the country’s top flight.

Midfielder Dawda Bah’s lone strike in the second half only proved to be a consolation goal for Hawks.

Bombada beat Serrekunda United 3-2 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to secure their first win in the top flight.

Tallinding United beat Gambia Armed Forces on the same score line at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.

Marimoo maintained their superb run of form in their debut season in the top flight following their 2-1 win over Brikama United at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on Saturday.

Samger defeated Bakau giant killers Steve Biko 3-2 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, to bounce back in the top flight after losing to Real De Banjul 1-0 in their previous fixtures.

Elsewhere, current league champions Gambia Ports Authority beat Gamtel 1-0 at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
