total of 60 women and youth have been trained on basic business skills at Bwiam
lodge in Foni Kansala district.
Organised by Foni DinDing, a ChildFund The Gambia affiliated Federation; the training brought together participants from within the Federation’s operational spectrum.
The Federation’s manager Edrisa Bah said the training is part of their strategic plan to build the capacities of participants in a bid to sustain their small businesses and to encourage others to venture into business.
According to him, similar trainings would be conducted in all the community associations under the Federation where community association committees in consultation with community mobilisers will identify participants.
Mr. Bah noted that participants are expected to submit a business plan which will determine the support they will receive from the Federation and loans will be given to them interest free which when repaid will enable others to benefit too.
The Federation’s sponsorship and program coordinator Samba Keita said the objective of the activity is to build the capacity of enrolled families for economic self-sufficiency. He advised participants to submit their application to the Federation so that they can benefit from the loan, stressing that every business requires some form of investment and enough customers to whom its output can be sold on consistent basis in order to make profit.
