The Chairperson of the Organising committee of The Gambia Football Federation domestic first and second division women leagues says she is quite impressed with the progress of the league.

In an interview with Sports Journalist Alieu Ceesay on Saturday at the Goal Project where Red Scorpion beat GAF 4-0, Jainaba Cham said, the league is going on fine with Interior leading in the first division and City Girls at the top of the second division.

Many have the belief that the women league should be given the same exposure as the male league. Football followers complain that the Goal Project in Yundum where the female league games are being played is quite very remote.

When asked why they are not playing some female league games at the Independence Stadium or other accessible venues, Jainaba Cham put the blame to the lack of venues. “The lack of grounds is disturbing us because most of the venues are under rehabilitation- hopefully next year we will play at better grounds.”

As to what are they doing to secure a sponsor for the league, she said they are doing their best to acquire a sponsor for the league.
