Wheels for Health Foundation (WFH); a Holland based-charitable organisation last Wednesday donated a pick-up vehicle to the National Eye Health Programme at a ceremony held in Kanifing.

Speaking at the presentation, the chairperson of the Foundation Ellen Van Schaik said the main aim of the foundation is to provide ‘Wheels’ to hospitals in general and the Gambia health system in particular.

Ms. Ellen said since the establishment of WFH in 2015, they had made several donations in The Gambia, among them were donation of two vehicles to Bwiam hospital in Foni Kansala and a commercial vehicle to women group in Foni Kankuntu.

WFH partner in The Gambia Saidu Beyai said they are committed to complementing government efforts in strengthening the country’s health care delivery system. He appealed to the beneficiary to use the car for the intended purpose.

He said the foundation would be responsible for the regular maintenance of the vehicle until such a time the beneficiary is ready to take charge of its maintenance.
