Werder Bremen under 23 team have signed Gambia-born striker Kebba Badjie ahead of the 2019-2020 season from VFL Oldenburg, the club confirmed on their official website on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old scored nine goals in 20 regional league games, including a brace in their 5-2 defeat against Werder Bremen, but he was not featured in VFL Oldenburg 1-0 win over Bremen due his transfer saga. “Kebba is a striker who can be used effectively on offensive tag.”

“Already in his first season in the senior field, Badjie was able to convince with strong performance,” says Björn Schierenbeck, director of Werder’s junior performance center, in a club statement.

Badjie expressed delights for the move to Werder Bremen, saying this is a chance to develop himself in Werder Bremen. “Bremen is a piece of home for me and I will give everything for the club,” he said.

Badjie previously played for Blumenthal SV and Niendorfer TSV before joining VfL Oldenburg.  He has scored nine goals in 20 matches for VfL Oldenburg in the current regional league season.
