senior national team coach Tom Sainfiet said the country has slim chance to
qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after bagging just two points in
four group matches.
Coach Sainfiet was speaking yesterday at the Football House during the unveiling of his squad for the return tie with Benin on 17 November in Banjul.
He revealed that the Gambia’s chance of qualifying for the continent’s biggest football showpiece is very small after losing to Togo in their previous match in the qualifiers.
Sainfiet also revealed that his game approach is to beat Benin after failing to qualifier matches since 2013 when they defeated Tanzania 2-0 in Banjul. He stated that they will try by all means to win the match against Benin after their dismal performance against Togo last month in Banjul.
