WCRFAA U13 championship kicks-off

West Coast Region Football Academies Association (WCRFAA) will be hosting a regional under 13 championship tournament among its registered and affiliate academies.

The Association has been organising sports tournaments for the youngsters targeting to creating a platform where they can compete to have fun and eventually on annual basis during each school holidays as in Easter, Christmas and summer.

According to Yahya Manneh, president of the WCRFAA, they are facing a big constraint in this Easter championship as they received an unfortunate message from their annual Easter sponsor that they could not assist this time. He said they have been partnering with the Prediction Wanderers Foundation for the past five (5) years and thanked them for the support.

He appealed for support from individuals and organisations, saying since their past tournaments, they don’t give physical amount to the winning team but provide materials like balls, jerseys, bibs and cones etc to the winning team and a giant trophy.

The tournament officially kicked-off on Friday 29th March with preliminaries in respective district levels before finally making it to the round of 16 at Brikama Box Bar. A total of twenty-seven (27) affiliated academies are taking part.
