Coast Regional chairman of the Alliance for Patriotic Re-orientation and
Construction (APRC) says he have no hidden agenda against any political party
in the country, saying Gambians must put the country’s interest first before
those of their political parties.
Speaking to this reporter at his Busumbala residence, Ebrima Solo Marreh said people must accept defeat when they are clearly defeated in elections. “We at APRC will learn from our mistakes. Where there are errors, we will try to re-correct it and forge ahead.”
Mr. Marreh said despite the political affiliations, Gambians must understand that the country belongs to all of them and they must stand to defend it at all cost. He advised APRC party militants to stay calm, saying the United Democratic Party (UDP) has a cause to celebrate and everyone should accept the defeat.
He commended their party leader Fabakary Tombong Jatta for his efforts in uniting them, saying the only constraint the APRC party is facing right now is funding. He said currently whatever they do is from their own pocket. He also denied former president Yahya Jammeh funding their campaigns.
