Ward councilors Ansumana Bayo of Latrikunda Sabji and Baba Jabbi of Faji Kunda Saturday led a cleansing exercise organized by Latrikunda Sabiji Tailors Association at the Faji Kunda Health Centre.

The health facility provides services to catchment areas of Latrikunda, Tallinding, Wellingara, Abuko, Tabokoto, Nemakunku and many other satellite communities.

Councilor Ansumana Bayo said the exercise was timely and laudable. He said the clinic is a major one in the area as it provide services to almost all the surrounding communities.

“I am very happy with the Tailors Association. Healthiness is next to godliness so cleaning the health facility is incumbent on every citizen because it is where we get treated. The health center should always be kept clean so that it can be a safe place for people coming to seek for treatment,” he said.

Councilor Baba Jabbi said Kanifing Municipal Council provided a vehicle to collect the garbage. “As residents of this surrounding, we should always participate in the cleaning of the health facility. I am very happy to associate myself with this exercise. Today, the premises of the clinic is clean and safe for people,” he said.

Momodou Salieu Jallow, president of the Association said they are youths who are ready to contribute their quota to national development. He added that was the first activity the Association carried out and they will be conducting series of activities including cleaning markets.

“We started with the cleansing exercise because after consultation with our ward councilor and elders, we were told that the hospital should be cleaned so that the environment will be safe for the people using it,” he said.

According to Mr. Jallow, the Association comprises only tailors and it is an umbrella body that seeks to promote their welfare and contribute immensely to the development of the country. He said they have an agenda of establishing an academy where they will train young people in tailoring. “We also have an agenda of supporting tailors in different ways including supporting them in terms of their needs.
