FC goalkeeper Babou Jah Owens yesterday, Monday 23rd October 2017 passed away
following a mild illness.
Owens, son of former Gambian International Lamin Owens was the reserve goalkeeper for 2017 Serrekunda West Zonal team.
He featured in two matches for West in this year’s edition and was described as the zone’s finest goal keepers in recent times.
Reacting to the story, Zonals Committee Chairman Gen Lang Tombong Tamba said the boy is a resemblance of his father’s character in sports but his short life is really saddening.
“We greeted each other just before their game with BEM and he said to me I am the son of Lamin Owens. It’s so sad but God knows best why He took him. May his soul rest in peace,” Gen Tamba.
He was laid to rest on the same at the Jeshwang cemetery along the Sankung Sillah factory just before the SDA School at 5pm.
