L. Jagne, widely called Oustass Jagne, a veteran teacher, principal and retired
civil servant has recently been honoured by the West African Examination Certificate
(WAEC) for his long service and distinguished educational career.
Mr. Jagne is one of the distinguished Gambians honoured by WAEC in this category.
Mr. Jagne was born in 1948 in Farafenni and was educated at the prestigious Al Ahzar University in Cairo, and in Khartoum, Sudan where he bagged a MA in Linguistics in 1979. From 1974 to 1994, he taught Islamic Religious Knowledge at Armitage High School.
He has over the past 45 years worked in strengthening the teaching of Islamic Religious knowledge course content, exams and evaluation.
The award was given to him by Her Excellency Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, the vice president during the recent WAEC AGM held in Banjul.
