The African Leaders Malaria Alliance National Institute of Medical Research Complex (ALMA) has awarded The Gambia during a luncheon held in Addis Ababa.

The award was received by the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs Aja Fatoumatta Tambang-Jallow on behalf of The Gambia government. It was meant for Gambia’s remarkable performance in malaria reduction.

The Gambia is among the four countries that have been nominated for the award in this category. They include: Madagascar, Zimbabwe, and Algeria.

It could be recalled back that 2015, The Gambia had received another award from ALMA as a result of its performance in improved health services.
