Volunteer Network Organisation (VOLNET) Gambia last week held capacity building training for volunteers in Gunjur.

Volnet Gambia is a voluntary network operated by Gambians and their counterparts in Germany with the objective of offering voluntary services, work activities, community social activities and intercultural exchange.

The training was conducted to strengthen the activities of the organisation and to learn some new methods of organisational management and international volunteer coordination from the perspective of German youth ministry Weltweart; one of the world´s most powerful volunteer organisation.

VolNet has touched the lives of many young people in The Gambia through volunteer service, youth activities and community social engagements. German volunteers have been coming to The Gambia to assist school health centres and community youth organisations whose main purpose is to volunteer, learn, share and exchange cultures.

Fifteen participants attended the training through the support of Global Leadership clinic, where the facilitator, Ousman Ceesay, the activity coordinator of VolNet Gambia acknowledged that the training has touched and continues to make a greater impact in the lives of the participants.

He said if the training is properly monitored it would bring a smooth working environment for members, partners and the community.

He said they have two activities each month on different areas of engagement, saying VolNet is open and willing to collaborate with any positive youth group and they have a youth centre in Gunjur where every youth group is given the opportunity to conduct their activities.
