Volleyball Federation appoints Alhagie Babou Joof as Youth team coach

Former head coach of The Gambia Beach Volleyball team Alhagie Babou Joof has bounced back as head coach of Gambia Youth Indoor Volleyball team, The Gambia Volleyball Federation disclosed.

Joof’s appointment came as Gambia prepares to host the Zone II Boys’ African Youth Games elimination round in Banjul in April. The Serrekunda East dream project center coach has already announced his provisional list of players for the qualifiers.

Widely called Anelka, Mr. Joof has guided Gambia in series of youth events in the past and in 2015, he was appointed head coach of Gambia Senior Beach Volleyball team and won gold and bronze medals for the female and silver for the male. His coaching prowess and ethics sent Gambia to the finals of the continental cup in 2016.

Joof holds a level 2 international coaching certificates; the highest in The Gambia. Saikou Omar Bargie of The Gambia Armed Forces will assist him.
