head coach of Interior volleyball club Ebrima Nyass has bagged a 3-month
Olympic Solidarity scholarship, through the Gambia National Olympic Committee
to undergo a three-month training programme in Budapest, Hungary.
During this period, Nyass will pursue courses in volleyball coaching, both theory and practical.
Ebrima Nyass, who became the second-ever volleyball coach to benefit from such trainings after Musa Cassa Taal arrived in Budapest, via Abuja where he secured his visa and the programmes had started already.
The Gambia Volleyball Federation would like to inform the Volleyball family in The Gambia that Ebrima Nyass has secured a scholarship from Olympic Solidarity to undergo a 3-month international coaching course in volleyball at the University of Physical Education in Budapest, Hungary, a press statement from the federation said.
The initiative was facilitated by the Gambia National Olympic Committee. The GNOC also facilitated the application process and after successful application they also provided the means for VISA and travelling expenses to Hungary.
GVBF, on their part, identified and nominated Mr Nyass for the initiative, due to his outstanding contribution to the development of the game in the country, they said in the release.
GVBF is very much delighted at this development and would like to use the opportunity to wish Mr. Ebrima Nyass success in his studies.
The Federation believes that this initiative will further boost the capacity of volleyball coaching in the country, the release concluded.
Mr. Nyass is currently the head coach of Interior volleyball club. He had guided The Gambia to the finals of the Continental cup beach volleyball finals and recently qualified the country to the African Cup of Nations beach volleyball championship.
