Volleyball Association Members to Nominate President

africa » gambia
Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Member clubs of The Gambia Volleyball Association are poised to forward their nominations for the presidency of the Gambia Volleyball Association.

This development emerged during last Saturday's congress which had been re-scheduled for the second time, at the Olympic House. A motion was reached that the election process cannot take place as intended without due adherence to Article VII of the constitution of The Gambia Volleyball Association.

According to article VII, Sections 1 and 2 of the 1997 constitution of the Volleyball Association, assumption of the office of the President of the Association shall be by election. Nominations for the office of the President shall be submitted to the Secretary General at least 30 (thirty) days before the date of the congress at which the elections are to be conducted.

Section 2 further states that after the announcement of the name of the President, the Assembly shall proceed to elect the Vice president, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General, Treasurer, Auditor General, and other Committee members.

Musa Cassa Taal, outgoing president of the Association, stated that clubs will receive their letters to forward their nominations for the post, adding that March 21st has been set as the deadline for the submission of the nomination and that the congress would now be held on 18th April 2009, at the GNOC headquarters.

During last Saturday's meeting, the financial statement which caused the rescheduling of the congress, was read and approved by members.

The assets of the association, namely: 30 Mikassa volleyballs, 20 Beach volleyballs, 2 molten balls, 6 volleyball nets, 1 volleyball post (Set), 2 antennas, 5 trophies, and 25 Manuals for Coaches/ Referees was also addressed.
