Njie, a second year student of the University of The Gambia’s School of
Journalism and Digital Media was crowned the face of University of The Gambia
in well contested beauty pageant.
The annual Face of UTG held at the Ebunjan Theatre on Saturday brought together eight beauties from the different schools in the university to compete for the crown.
The ambassadors, a sub organisation of the university annually organises the beauty contest to give chance to girls across the schools to showcase their beauty, intelligence and talents.
Newly crowned queen beaming with smiles, Veronic expressed her delight after being crowned queen.
“I feel honoured to be crowned queen but again I feel a whole lot of responsibilities have been handed over to me as the new president UTG Ambassadors’ Foundation to keep the foundation kicking and making impacts not just for the university but the nation as a whole.”
“I intend on setting up a girl child foundation where we will help young girls get educated and get the knowledge needed to contribute meaningfully to national development ,” the newly crown beauty queen said.
This year is described as the year the School of Journalism and Digital Media as the newest and the smallest school once more conquered the rest. The school produced 1st Runner up as well in Mariatou Sarr, also a second year student in addition to the queen Veronic Njie in the 2018 Face of UTG.
It could be recalled that the University of The Gambia Students’ Union last month elected Fatou Jeng, also from the School of Journalism as the first female president of the union.
