As part of efforts to promote Gambian culture and music, Vision Development Foundation (VDF) Tuesday presented cheques amounting to 100, 000 dalasi to four Gambian musicians at the VDF head office in Banjul.
The beneficiaries of the cheques are: Neneh Jali Susso, Jalimadi Kanteh, ST Singhateh and Badibunka with each of them receiving D25, 000.00.
The Foundation’s public relations officer Saikou Fofana said the gesture is part of VDF program of activities to empower young Gambians who are trying to develop or create new outlook for the country’s culture and tradition.
Mr. Fofana said the gesture came as a result of their interest in trying to develop or play their quota in national development, adding that Vision Development Foundation, as an NGO in The Gambia has committed itself to help Gambians to realise themselves and to see how they can empower people who are aspiring to do something for their country.
“Today, I believe that this is a very important program because these are very young Gambians who have the talent and are very willing to showcase what they have. The other way round that we can create employment is to empower young people to also empower others.”
He told beneficiaries to realize that there is a very important person like Momodou Turo Darboe who is trying his best in contributing to development. “That is a credible thing for us. In national development, there are areas that all of us need to hold in one way or the other.”
Muhammeh Darboe, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked Mr. Darboe and the entire management of Visio Development Foundation for the important gesture.
He said Mr. Darboe has been always contributing to national development and they are thanking Allah blessing him.
He said Mr. Darboe is an asset for The Gambia and Gambian people for helping the people of this country and beyond for the past 20 years. “We thank Mr. Darboe and the entire management of VDF for being a philanthropist that they don’t request anything in return.”
