Association of Gunjur Youth for Community Development (AGYCOD) Sunday received
educational books from Ebrima A. Janneh and Lamin Jammeh, citizens of Gunjur
residing in the United States of America.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Gunjur Daycare Centre, Nuha S. Barrow, treasurer of AGYCOD said the donation was first of its kind and would help to inculcate reading habits in children.
Mr. Barrow said one of the donors Ebrima Janneh was a member of AGYCOD prior to his departure to the US.
Secretary General of AGYCOD Lamin Janneh thanked Ebrima A. Janneh, Lamin Jammeh and Mason for the gesture, saying the provision of the books would help improve education.
Mr. Janneh appealed to the donors to continue rendering support to AGYCOD library, saying their aim is to expand the library to include computer learning.
Chief Librarian Buba Touray said the donated books would be very useful to students using the library.
Tijan Bojang, chairman of Gunjur Village Development Committee commended the donors for donating the books to AGYCOD library, while lamenting the Gambian reading culture.
