Gambia Methodist Academy tops GABECE results

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE) on Monday released the results of the 2015 Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examinations (GABECE), with the Gambia Methodist Academy topping the results chart.

According to a press release issued by MoBSE, a total of 22,430 candidates, 10,938 of whom were male and 11,492 female, sat to the examinations.

The press release stated that the top students were Isatou Badjie, Aji Amie K. Jobe, Sheriff Newlands and Mariama Sabally of the Gambia Methodist Academy and Kaddijatou Bah of Bakoteh Upper Basic, all of whom attained a 1 (one) in all their nine subjects.

The release further disclosed that a total of 25 candidates scored aggregate 6 in 2015, an increase of 14 from the previous year.

Out of the 25 candidates, 7 are from Gambia Methodist Academy, 4 from the New Covenant Upper Basic and 22nd July Academy Upper Basic, 2 from St. Therese’s Upper Basic, and 1 from Tallinding Upper Basic, Bakoteh Upper Basic, Kinderdorf Bothrop Upper Basic, Presentation of St. Mary’s, Kabifita Upper Basic, Pakalinding Upper Basic and Barra/Essau Upper Basic.

The release declared that “all concerned candidates are to receive their individual results from their respective schools”, adding that admission into grade 10 “should be based on passes in the core subjects” to be decided by the Board of Governors, and not exceeding aggregate 42.
