The Governor of the Upper River Region Alhagie Omar Abu Khan has revealed if every thing goes well as the trend is there will be a bumper harvest in his region.

According to the URR Governor, people in the region have cultivated so much particularly Nerica rice and groundnut.

"So many hectares were cultivated with Nerica rice this year," he added.

The crops he maintained are doing very well with no incident of insect invasion as at now.

In not more than two years later he added, if the current trend in farming continue in the region the people of the area will have no cause to buy imported rice.

For the Basse based Regional Governor, the people in URR have been inspired by President Jammeh's leadership by example. "You can see himself as a President working on the farm so what are the rest waiting for?  He asked.

Commenting on the issue of fertilizer, URR Boss further revealed that as at now they have some in the region and are expecting more form Banjul this week.

He commended the people of the region for answering to the President's call.
