URR communities benefit Chinese constructors’ food gift

Upper River Region communities have benefited from food gifts from Chinese constructors who are constructing road and bridge projects in the region. The officials distributed forty bags of rice and sugar packs to beneficiaries in Basse.

Twenty-two bags of rice and sugar packs were distributed among communities along the Basse-Fatoto road while 18 were donated to Kubuneh.

Alkalo of Basse Mansajang expressed gratitude to the Chinese for the gesture, which he described as a clear manifestation of the group’s religious tolerance and appreciation of Islam.

The Chinese constructors took on the humanitarian mission to support communities in the area as a special contribution to Ramadan.

Mustapha Darboe, a representative of the Ministry of Works hailed the Chinese for not only focusing on the road and bridge projects but also helping the vulnerable and less privileged and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Mike and Sun, both Chinese constructors explained that helping the needy, particularly in the holy month of Ramadan is worthy, expressing delight in sharing the little they have, to put a smile on the faces of people.

The region’s deputy governor Samba Bah thanked the Chinese for what he described as a great humanitarian gesture. He emphasised the strong bilateral relationship between Gambia and China and urged the communities, particularly those around the project sites to exercise patience and understanding with the constructors while they are working.
