UDP to contest next presidential election on its own -Darboe

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Lawyer Ousainiou Darboe, the secretary general and leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has affirmed that his party will contest the next presidential without coalition.

“Whoever is selected as candidate, we will support the individual,” he said. “But we will make sure that the country turns yellow.”

He said that the party will ensure that it wins with landslide so that there will be no second round. “We all know how ‘women kill snakes’,” (proverb) he said. “I think that’s how you are going to do it in 2021 Presidential Election.”

Ousainiou Darboe, who is also the minister of Foreign Affairs International Corporation and Gambians Abroad, made this remarks in Brikama in the West Coast Region (WCR) during a well attended political rally.

Darboe calls on Gambian women particularly supporters of the UDP to redouble their unflinching support for the party so that small parties would not march their standard.

He urges the people of Sanimentereng, Old Yundum, Brikama South and Brikama North among others to come and join UDP. “Let’s be prepared in ensuring that next election; be it presidential or National Assembly election, we ensure that UDP has a NAM in Foni Kansala.”
