UDP Jarra Central NAM trial fails to proceed

The criminal trial against Pa Jallow, the United Democratic Party (UDP) National Assembly Member for Jarra Central constituency in the Lower River Region, yesterday failed to proceed at the Bundung Magistrates' Court.

Jallow was alleged to have assaulted one Isatou Marenah, a police officer, by slapping her while in the due execution of her duties, on 13th October 2010 at Nusrat Junction in the Kanifing Municipality.

He had since denied the charge.

The case, scheduled for continuation before Magistrate Fredrick Foster could not proceed, as he was reported to have travelled out of the country’s jurisdiction. The case was subsequently adjourned till 8th November 2010.

Cadet Inspector Kanteh represented the IGP in the trial, while Pa Jallow was represented by lawyer SM Conteh.
