Two women face theft case of more than D1M

Fatou Jammeh and Binta Badjie were arraigned on 4 December 2014, before Magistrate Jobarteh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing from a dwelling house.

Prosecutors alleged that Fatou Jammeh and Binta Badjie on 10 November 2014, in Kololi, the Kanifing Municipality, stole from the house of Zhang Mingang and Wang Xu six hundred and fifty thousand dalasi and eleven thousand nine hundred dollars (equivalent to D523,600) a total of which was D1,173,600, the property of Zhang Mingang and Wang Xu, and thereby committed an offence.

They denied any wrongdoing.

Magistrate Jobarteh then granted them bail of D750,000 with two Gambian sureties, one of whom should deposit a title deed, and also swear to an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned till 10 December 2014, for Sub-Inspector Oley Bobb, who was representing the IGP, to make available her witnesses before the court.
