Two women arraigned for alleged burglary

Lamin Colley, a police officer, yesterday continued his testimony in the trial of Maimuna Nyassi and Isatou Keita, accused of shop-breaking and attempting to commit a felony, before Magistrate Isatou Janneh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

Continuing his testimony, officer Colley confirmed telling the court that an amount of D10,500 was recovered from the two accused persons, Maimuna Nyaassi and Isatou Keita.

He identified the said money, which was tendered as an exhibit.

The witness also told the court that a tin of milk, and plastic bag containing blue and soap was recovered from the accused persons.

The case was adjourned to 25 February 2015.

The particulars of offence in count one stated that Maimuna Nyassi and Isatou Keita on 14 June 2014, at Bwiam village in the Foni Kansala District in the West Coast Region, broke and entered the shop of one Manga Jallow with intent to commit felony, and thereby committed an offence.

Count 2 stated that the accused persons on the same date, month and place stole a cash amount of D10, 500 from the shop of one Manga Jallow, and thereby committed an offence.
