Two suspected rapists deny charges

Two suspects, Sulayman Jallow and Samba Barry, on 14 November, 2017 appeared before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court in Banjul on charges of conspiracy to commit felony, rape and robbery.

The prosecution alleged that the suspects on 5 April 2015, at Tipper garage in the Kanifing Municipality, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a lady (name withheld) without her consent.

The prosecution further alleged that the suspects on the said date and place conspired amongst themselves to rob the alleged victim with violence, a mobile phone marked Samsung Galaxy valued at fifteen thousand dalasis (D15, 000).

They both pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The matter was adjourned to 20 November 2017, for the prosecution to open it case by calling witnesses to prove the charges against them.
