Two Police officers in NAWEC burglary case want to call alibi

Two Police Officers; Farimang Jabbi and Bakary Krubally on Monday, 27th May, 2019 informed the High Court presided over by Justice Zainab Jawara Alami that they wished to call one RSM Keita as a witness in their defence.

The accused persons are jointly charged with neglect of official duty contrary to Section 113 of the Criminal Code Cap 10, Vol 111 of the 2009 revised laws of The Gambia.

The prosecution alleged that the accused persons on 13th June, 2016 whilst posted at NAWEC London Corner Branch in the Kanifing Municipality, abandoned their duty post and as a result the said office was broken into and the sum of D196,000.00 was stolen therein.

The prosecution led by Abdoulie Colley of the Attorney Generals Chambers called four witnesses to prove its case against the accused persons and after the prosecution closed its case the two accused persons; Farimang Jabbi and Bakary Krubally opened their defence and testified before the said court.

However, during the court sitting on Monday 27th May, 2019, the accused persons informed the court that they intend to call one RSM Keita as a witness in their case. Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to the 19th June, 2019 for continuation of the defence case.
