Two judges elevated

Judicial sources have confirmed the appointments and elevation of two senior high court judges to the Gambia Court of Appeal, with immediate effect.

Justice Kumba Sillah-Camara and Justice Basiru V.P. Mahoney have been elevated as the Gambia Court of Appeal judges.

Justice Kumba Sillah-Camara was handling the famous NIA nine case involving the former spy chief, Yankuba Badjie and eight others in the alleged murder of Solo Sandeng, the UDP activist, in April 2016, while Justice B.V.P. Mahoney, a judge rose through the ranks as a magistrate to become a judge was later appointed Solicitor General and Legal Secretary in the Jammeh regime and then returned to the judiciary to continue his job as a judge.

Our sources have also confirmed the appointment of Justice Roche as a High Court judge.

Justice Roche once worked as a High Court judge during the erstwhile Jammeh regime.
