Two convicted for house-breaking, stealing

The Bundung Magistrates’ Court recently convicted two men, Amadou Sillah and Muhammed Nying, for house-breaking and stealing.

They were convicted and sentenced on count one to a fine of D2,500 each in default to serve two years in prison with hard labour, and on count two they were each fined D2,000 in default to serve one year in prison with hard labour.

According to the charge sheet on count one, on 8 September 2011 at Jeshwang in the Kanifing Municipality, the convicted persons, Amadou Sillah and Muhammed Nying, jointly conspired and broke into the house of one Alfusainey Mendy and Ajie Fatou Bass, with intent to commit a felony.

The charge sheet on count two stated that, on 8 September 2011 at Jeshwang in the Kanifing Municipality, Amadou Sillah and Muhammed Nying stole from the house of Alfusainey Mendy and Ajie Fatou Bass the following items: one flat screen TV marked LG, one DVD marked Samsung, one video player marked specific and one satellite receiver marked Tokyo.

The convicted persons pleaded guilty and also admitted the facts of the case as narrated by the prosecutor.
