Turo is a true Samaritan

The love of one’s country is part of belief that cannot be confined to emotional expressions alone; neither can the biblical edict to love one’s neighbour be trivialised only by saying the phrase ‘I love you’.

Gambian philanthropist Momodou Turo Darboe has proven that he’s a true kind heated individual, as he offered bold and ambitious opportunity in his latest move to help the victims of the recent clash between the people of Faraba in Kombo East and the personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU).

Darboe, who is the chief patron and founder of the Vision Development Foundation (VDF) Gambia, a CSO Civil Society Organisation began its operations in 2006.  It is a registered non-governmental institution which aims to alleviate the needs of the poor and needy.

Mr. Darboe also promised to immediately foot their medical bills and to support their families as majority of them are their families’ breadwinners. His generosity speaks volumes of his charismatic approach to help his nation. He is rendering this assistance through his foundation, which has for so long been offering humanitarian assistance to thousands of Gambian across all regions.

Turo, as he is widely called has proven himself as a true Samaritan particularly in Ramadan, when he voluntarily helped by distributing thousands of bags of sugar, rice and others to the Muslim communities. He also helped communities with drinking waters by digging boreholes.

The organisation’s main aim is achieved via a number of varied activities such as creating and maintaining savings and credit schemes that give access to small loans, building health facilities, skills training for women and youths groups to increase their opportunities at self-employment and self-sufficiency.

Mr. Darboe, on Friday visited the injured victims of the Faraba Banta incident at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul and therefore made this bold promise. He also urged the victims and their families to forget what has happened and turned a new page.
