Turo Darboe injects over D1M in Kiang Keneba, others

Modou Turo Darboe, the chief Executive Officer of Vision Development Foundation (VDF) on Saturday spent over one million dalasis on projects including the commissioning of a borehole, in Kiang Keneba, in the Lower River Region.

Turo Darboe injected this amount in both cheque and physical cash to the community to support to their development initiatives.

The commissioning also witnessed the presentation of various cheques to different youths group, sport committee, women garden, imams, mosques committee and Arabic school, all amounting to D1,380,400.

The presentation was done in Keneba Primary School ground and was characterised by dancing and singing from women and youths.

The beneficiaries were Keneba women group who received D100,000,  Keneba development forum received a cheque for D50,000, imams who recited the Holy Quran received D2,000 cash ,  Sibanor Police Station received computer, scanner , photocopier, ceiling fan and cash of D10,000, Kiang Sandeng received D21,000 cheque,  thirty mosques in Kiang were given D30,000 each.

The Arabic school in Kiang Keneba was given D5,000, Kololi kunda Arabic school were also given D5,000,  Sibanor immigration were given D25,000 cash for the maintenance of the station, Tankural Youth Development Association received D25,000, Kiang Central Sport committee had D25,000 cheque and Modou Turo Darboe football club D5,000.

Mr Darboe also donated a brand new milling machine with a new generator to the community of Betilly in Kiang.

Speaking at the presentation, the deputy speaker, Momodou Lamin Sanneh, commended Turo Darboe for the numerous intervention or support that he has been giving in the country all geared towards reducing poverty and fight against hunger.

He said Mr. Darboe’s effort need to be recognised by the government and urged him to continue with the benevolent.

He further advised the community of Kiang Keneba to carefully maintain the borehole as a lot of money has been injected to construct the borehole since water is an essential ingredient in life.

For his part, Modou Darboe said that he inherited the spirit of generosity from his father who told him to share whatever he had with the vulnerable people in the society.

He said he was born and to find his father was helping humanity and he would follow his footstep to support the less privilege people.

Speaker after speaker including the imams prayed for his long life and to continue helping humanity, as the Almighty Allah would reward him.
