business tycoon and chief executive officer of Vision Development Foundation
(VDF) Modou Turo Darboe on Saturday distributed over 3000 Rams and 13 cows
worth over 1.5 Million to various communities and individuals on the eve of the
Muslim feast of Tobaski.
The gesture was part of Mr. Darboe’s emulation of his father’s development aspiration in supporting humanity irrespective of ethnic group.
His Foundation has been described by many vulnerable people in the society as a peace Ambassador that has the heart in helping vulnerable people in the society. He was also seen on the ground during the Tobaski Eve, distributing the Rams and cows to elders, women, youth, Imams, Alkalos, head of Yai-compins, politicians, civil servants and institutions.
Many elders who spoke to the media during the distribution commended Mr. Darboe for his benevolent gesture, saying that if Gambia has five people of his kind, then the less privileged will enjoy their life in the country.
One of the beneficiaries said Mr. Darboe’s goodwill gesture is a way of fighting against hunger in the country, challenging other socio-economically advantaged Gambians both at home and abroad to emulate Mr. Darboe’s clean heartedness towards Muslims and Christians.
