Ambassador to The Gambia last Thursday said his country would double the
support it has been rendering to Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) in the area of
training. He made this promise during the presentation of sixty different flags
to GAF at the Defense Headquarters in Banjul.
Ambassador Ismail Yuceer explained that his country through his embassy has a long-standing working relationship that he said will continue to be strong.
According to him, 7, 500 GAF members were trained in Turkey and promised that his country would keep supporting GAF and the country at large in terms of logistics support and training.
Gambia Army chief General Masanneh Kinteh noted that the relationship between Turkey and The Gambia is based on mutual cooperation, saying Gambia continues to benefit from military and civil training from the government of Turkey.
General Kinteh explained that they are expecting a Turkish contingent to be sent to The Gambia soon for training. He said Gambia would always promote the Turkish agenda because they share many common values. “Turkey is a great partner of the Armed Forces and we would foster the relationship while working on important programmes.”
