Trial of Marakisa Ward Councillor and Co continues

The trial of Lamin Jarju, ward councillor for Marakisa, and others Monday continued at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Isatou Janneh.

Lamin Jarju and seven others are being tried on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, threatening violence and disobedience to lawful order.

Continuing his testimony, the third accused, Bakary Kujabi, told the court that the people who were allowed to address the meeting by the Busura Alkalo were Jalang Bakary Sanneh, Alieu Jarju, Mairam Bah, adding that all these people were in the opposition challenging the APRC during the councillorship election.

He said Lamin Jarju, Abdou Jarju and Lang Kulo Jatta were among the people who were supposed to speak at the meeting, but they were denied the chance.

According to Kujabi, the first accused, Lamin Jarju, was not allowed to speak because he would have revealed something.

He said the accused persons did not engage in any violence on that day, during the presidential meeting in Busura village.

The case was adjourned to 10 November 2014 for continuation.
